Local Information Travel to Epworth By The Sea
By car: Arrive at Brunswick, GA via I-95 or U.S. 17. St. Simons Island is reached from U.S. 17 by a 2-mile causeway (35 cents toll) connecting the island to the mainland. By air: Major airlines provide service to Savannah, GA, Jacksonville, FL or by Delta commuter flight to Brunswick, Georgia. Savannah and Jacksonville are about one hour from St. Simons Island and would require a rental car or limo service to the island. Limo service is $75 one way/first person and $10 each additional. Service from Brunswick Golden Isles Airport to Epworth is $20/first person, $5 each additional. (Limo service may be arranged prior to your arrival.) By bus: Greyhound Bus Lines provide service to Brunswick, GA. Service from the bus station to Epworth is $15/first person, small fee each additional. Limo Service providers include:
Weather
Casual clothes are the dress of the day ... and evening! Winter, early spring and late fall are pleasant but require lightweight pants, jackets, perhaps a sweater or sweatshirt. Late spring and early fall are warm. Bring some shorts, lightweight pants, shirts and tops. Always include an umbrella and/or rain gear. Bring hats and comfortable walking shoes (one pair of old ones for beach and marsh walks.) Points of Interest There are many interesting places to visit near St. Simons Island. Several trips are included in your Elderhostel week. Other places may be visited during limited free time or by planning to arrive in the area early or stay over.
