Like John Wesley... The world is our parish! The D. Abbott Turner Lodge stands on the banks of the historic Frederica River, which brought John and Charles Wesley to St. Simons Island to live and labor with the colonists at Fort Frederica in 1736. For over half a century, Epworth By The Sea has served people from all over the world. They are able to "step away" from their hectic lives and spend time surrounded by magnificent live oaks, beautiful gardens and the famous Marshes of Glynn. The Turner Lodge represents another opportunity for Epworth to expand its services and facilities. Named in memory of D. Abbott Turner, a Pioneer of Epworth By The Sea, the Lodge has 71 motel rooms with balconies and two 2-room suites. Each room has a magnificent view of the historic Frederica River overlooking the Marshes of Glynn. A special events room opens onto a large deck. A private dining/conference room is available. Along with Epworth's founder, Bishop Arthur J. Moore, Mr. Turner played a key role in selecting the site, purchasing the property and in all areas of establishing and building Epworth By The Sea. > Groundbreaking Ceremony October 2003 |
